The recruitable units are unique and interesting and you get a lot of funny banter from them. Many of the fights you partake in during your adventures you are directing, recruiting and improving the various units you are able to summon from your ‘Rock Stage’. The first think I should point out is that this game is a platformer/Real Time Strategy game. I had heard great things about this game, its gotten good reviews, and so after seeing in at the military exchange for $20 I figured I pick it up. This is honestly my only complaint for the game as a whole.I have no idea why when there’s a multi-platform game released that the PS3 gets the buggier version. This wasn’t a big deal and figuring out what to do can be just as fun I can see it frustrating some people. Even though these elements have been used in games before (and more complexly), they come together very well for this game making them feel unique and fun. With the gameplay being as fun as it is there were some missions that had me confused as to what to do. While you can explore the world and chat up the locals, you can also upgrade and customize your car and weapons giving you a feeling of freedom you don’t usually see in games these days. The world this game creates is also fun and beautiful to look at, in fact you can spend hours driving around looking at all the world’s locations and fun in-jokes to Heavy Metal Pop-Culture.This game pretty much has three elements: your hacking guys up, driving around in your car (The Deuce!), and giving commands to units in a (VERY) simplified RTS game mechanic. The story’s fun and drives this game to the end. It’s everything I could possibly want in a video game. This game is story driven (as you probably know) with a great cast of characters (mostly of Heavy Metal culture). It takes fun zany ideas related to Heavy Metal and creates a fun world for you to explore, hack and slash, drive and rock out on your guitar. Overall a B on the Numb Thumb.Brutal Legend is a brilliant creation. Numb Thumb: Graphics B Value B Originality B Gameplay B. What’s wrong: Could use a better mapping system, and I wish I could jump over some of the obstacles. What’s right: Funny, battle system, racing levels, being able to drive around, and fly. Definitely an acquired taste, but if you’re bored with standard military/futuristic battle games, this one is fresh enough, and funny enough, to make it worth a shot. The game looks good and control is pretty solid, apart from not being able to jump. There are decent multiplayer options as you can play online or locally in battling action. The music is laden with a heavy metal hits and you can choose which ones you want and which ones you don’t. Jack Black voices the main character and heavy metal icons Lemmy from Motorhead, Rob Halford from Judas Priest and Lita Ford also appear in the game. You feel like you’re thrust into the world of an Iron Maiden album cover, but the best thing about the game is the sense of humor. While you need to organize your team, it’s real action where you fight in third-person perspective, using your guitar, fists and other music-related weapons. This is sort of an action game, sort of a real-time strategy game where you have to collect your own currency, known as Lighter Tributes, and use them to help marshall your forces, which you are constantly building. You play as roadie Eddie Riggs and you get dropped into a fantasy world to battle the evil forces represented by “hair metal”. Interesting that someone looked at that marriage and put it into a game, with Brutal Legend for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Article contentĪnyone who’s ever even peeked into the heavy metal world knows about the image the musical genre likes to portray, scantily-clad women, skulls, swords, winged demons etc. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.
